Short rains arrive and the herds move south quickly. Green, quiet and good value.

The short rains break and the plains turn green within days. The herds move south fast — the whole population can cover the length of the park in a couple of weeks when the grass calls.

November is one of the best-value months of the year: prices drop, the crowds vanish, and the landscape after rain photographs beautifully. The trade-off is that the herds are moving, so exactly where they will be on your dates is genuinely hard to call.
