Walking safari
Best: June to October · Two to four hours
On foot with an armed ranger, learning to read a landscape rather than drive through it.
Usually early morning, usually two to three hours, always with an armed ranger and a guide. You will not track lion on foot — the point is smaller and better: tracks, termite mounds, medicinal plants, the sound of the bush when there is no engine running.

Tell us this matters and we will route the itinerary so it actually happens — in the right park, in the right month, booked far enough ahead.

Build walking safari into your route.
Some of these need booking months ahead, others need only a word to the camp the night before. Tell us which ones matter and we will plan the days around them.
