Safari overview
This is the honeymoon we build most often. Six nights on safari is enough to stop feeling like a tour and start feeling like a place you know slightly; five on Zanzibar is enough to properly stop.
Everything is at the luxury or ultra-luxury tier, which on safari buys location more than thread count — camps inside the parks rather than an hour outside them, which means an extra hour of game viewing at each end of every day.
You fly from the Serengeti to the coast rather than driving back to Arusha, which converts most of a lost day into another morning in the sea.
- Arusha — 50 km, 50 minutes
- Southern Tarangire — 160 km, 3 hours
- Serengeti — 200 km, 4 hours with stops
- Crater rim — 145 km, 3 hours plus game viewing
- Zanzibar
- Zanzibar
- Zanzibar International Airport — 55 km, 1 hour

Questions we get asked
Yes. You have your own vehicle, your own guide and your own schedule. We do not put unrelated guests together unless you specifically ask us to, in order to share costs.
That is rather the point. Every itinerary on this site is a starting draft. Add nights, drop a park, change the comfort level, start from Zanzibar instead — tell us what you want and we will rebuild it and re-cost it.
A Toyota Land Cruiser adapted for safari: pop-up roof, charging points, a cool box, and enough space that nobody sits in a middle seat. Windows open fully on both sides.
For July to September, nine to twelve months if you want the better camps. For the green season, three to four months is usually enough. We can occasionally do much shorter notice — ask.
It is customary but not compulsory. As a guide, most guests give their driver-guide around US$20–30 per vehicle per day, and leave something in the camp staff box.
Usually the north-east or the north. The east has a large tidal range, which is beautiful but means walking a long way to swim at low tide — not everyone minds, but it is worth knowing before rather than after.
Yes. Pemba is quieter and the diving is better; Mafia has whale sharks in season. Both cost more to reach and have fewer properties. Ask and we will lay out the trade-offs.
