Safari overview
Not every honeymoon has three weeks in it. This one is six days and is built to feel longer than that: three parks rather than five, two nights in the Serengeti, and no day that starts before it needs to except the crater morning.
The difference between this and the standard six-day route is mostly in the details we arrange rather than the map. A private dinner away from the mess tent. A room with a view worth waking up for rather than the one nearest the path. Camps told in advance that it is a honeymoon, which reliably produces flowers, a bottle of something cold and a bath run in an inconvenient but memorable place.
If you want the Indian Ocean afterwards, we add Zanzibar or Pemba on the end — most couples do, and the eleven-day version below is the usual shape.

Met at the airport and driven to a plantation suite among the coffee bushes on the Meru slopes. A quiet first night, deliberately — the safari starts properly tomorrow and there is no advantage in beginning it tired.

South-west into baobab country. Tarangire is the quietest of the northern parks and in the dry months holds the highest elephant concentration on the circuit.

Over the highlands, past the crater viewpoint and down onto the plains, with the Olduvai Gorge on the way.

First vehicle down at opening. Six hours on the floor generally produces lion, hyena, hippo, elephant and thousands of plains game, with a chance of black rhino at distance.
Then east to the airport — or, if you are continuing to the coast, to the domestic terminal instead. Which is what we would do.

Questions we get asked
Yes. You have your own vehicle, your own guide and your own schedule. We do not put unrelated guests together unless you specifically ask us to, in order to share costs.
That is rather the point. Every itinerary on this site is a starting draft. Add nights, drop a park, change the comfort level, start from Zanzibar instead — tell us what you want and we will rebuild it and re-cost it.
A Toyota Land Cruiser adapted for safari: pop-up roof, charging points, a cool box, and enough space that nobody sits in a middle seat. Windows open fully on both sides.
For July to September, nine to twelve months if you want the better camps. For the green season, three to four months is usually enough. We can occasionally do much shorter notice — ask.
It is customary but not compulsory. As a guide, most guests give their driver-guide around US$20–30 per vehicle per day, and leave something in the camp staff box.
Yes, and most couples do. Four or five nights on the coast adds the flight from the Serengeti and the beach nights themselves. Tell us the budget and we will suggest two or three properties rather than twenty.
Nothing. Your own vehicle, your own guide, your own schedule. The only shared spaces are the camp mess tents, and we can arrange private dining at most of them.
